This tiny pueblo, located near the southern entrance of the Golfo Dulce, is a surfer’s paradise. Pavones is home to a 1.1 km (2/3 mile) long point break that’s considered the second longest left in the world (the longest, in Chicama, Peru, is 2 km). Pavones’ legendary wave requires a strong southern swell, and the best swells generally arrive during rainy season (April–November). When things really get going, surfers from around the world descend on Pavones, eager to experience rides that can last over two minutes!
